Samples and folic acid culture medium are added to the 96-microwell plate containing Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. lactis (leichmannii). If the sample contains vitamin B12, the Lactobacillus delbrueckii will grow. After incubation at 37°C for 44-48 hours, optical density is measured using a microplate reader at 610-630 nm (or 540-550 nm). Sample turbidity compared with the standard curve determines folic acid content.

This Folic Acid Test Kit provides capacity for 96 determinations or testing of 42 samples in duplicate (assuming 12 wells for standards). Return any unused microwells to the foil bag with the provided desiccant. Store the kit at 2-8°C. Properly stored, the kit maintains a 12-month shelf life.
